In a major development in the city's progress as a center for computer technology and innovation, Google is looking to expand here in Pittsburgh.

Google Pittsburgh has been operating for the past four years out of offices at Carnegie Mellon University.

Today, Google announced it will move to the new Bakery Square development in East Liberty.

They currently employ about 100 people, but say that the sky is the limit for new hiring.

"Google around the world needs to grow larger," said Andrew Moore, with Google Pittsburgh. "We have so many things that we're working on, that Google's just trying to hire the best brains in the world. And Pittsburgh is one of the places we're doing that at.

"The move to Bakery Square is an indication that we've passed our start-up phase," he added. "This office is now responsible for some very significant parts of Google and we need to grow into that responsibility."

Google hopes to be in its new officers by the summer.
