Google Arts & Culture taps 15 local arts groups for 'Pittsburgh: Proud and Powerful' digital experience

"Virtual visitors to Google’s Arts & Culture platform can take a digital tour through Lagos, learn about a panda’s diet and turn themselves into a version of “The Scream.”

Starting Tuesday, they’ll also be able to tour Pittsburgh’s cultural scene.

Google Arts & Culture, a nonprofit arm of the tech giant, announced Tuesday it has partnered with 15 local organizations to create “Pittsburgh: Proud and Powerful,” a digital platform that highlights Pittsburgh’s history, arts, sports, people and culture.

Part of an initiative to highlight culture around the world — and make it more accessible without needing to travel — Pittsburgh is the fifth U.S. city to be featured in the initiative and joins a platform that highlights international destinations like Lyon, France; Hamburg, Germany; and Milan and Naples, Italy."
