PITTSBURGH, PA – big Burrito Restaurant Group (bBRG) is heading to Bakery Square in Pittsburgh’s East End! AVP, an extension of the Alta Via brand named for the renowned footpath through the Dolomites, is inspired by the fresh cuisine and active lifestyle of both California wine country and the lively mountain towns of the Italian Alps. It presents bBRG’s pizzeria take on modern Italian cooking in a casual and friendly environment. 

“Opening and cooking at Alta Via has been so much fun, and it’s just getting better!” says Chef Bill  Fuller. “As we have developed the Alta Via focaccia recipe over the last few years, we have been making pizzas with the leftover dough. That experimentation and relentless love of pizza have blossomed into AVP. We’ll be featuring two kinds of pizza along with lots of salads, sandwiches— including our AVP burger—and simple, delicious dishes that emphasize seasonal vegetables.  We’re so excited to bring this to life in such an amazing facility as Bakery Square.”  

The entrance to AVP will be located within a new Bakery Square public conservatory built to connect the former Nabisco baking factory to the newly constructed building housing Galley  – Bakery Square. Once inside, guests will have access to an AVP walk-up window to pick up takeout or purchase gelato and a drink to enjoy in the conservatory. For dining-in, guests may choose between the traditional dining room, the AVP patio (located inside the conservatory), or the full-service bar. The bar program will focus on classic cocktails, a balanced selection of Italian and American wines, and a carefully curated menu of draft and bottled beers with an emphasis on Western Pennsylvania producers. 

The restaurant is currently scheduled to open in fall 2021 serving lunch and dinner seven days a week. Renderings of the space can be found here.
